Notes:

  • Maria is listed as head of household, with no husband aboard. This supports the view that Pirro was already in Brazil and sent for his family (she was probably a chamada). Pirro is not on pages 1–2 of this list.
  • Age 41 suggests birth c. 1889. Her 1930 passport says 1891, and her 1968 death record says 77, which points to c. 1891.
  • This matches Tereza’s RNE “Data de entrada 22/08/1930” exactly.
  • The family does not appear in the Hospedaria de Imigrantes do Brás registers (checked at Museu da Imigração; see below). They went straight to their destination, as was usual for “espontâneos” joining a relative.

Other ships checked and excluded (APESP lists, Santos, Aug 1930)

Section titled “Other ships checked and excluded (APESP lists, Santos, Aug 1930)”
  • Giulio Cesare (NGI), arr. 22/08/1930, BR_APESP_MI_LP_019173: this was the northbound voyage from Buenos Aires/Montevideo, so it is not our ship.
  • Conte Verde, arr. 21/08/1930, BR_APESP_MI_LP_019171: downloaded but not needed once the family was found on the Mendoza.
  • Context: Hospedaria book 109 p. 158 shows Mendoza passengers from Genoa (Belluzzo/Isolani family, Verona) entering the Hospedaria on 22-8-1930. The same family appears on the Mendoza list at lines 19–23, which corroborates the date. Saved as 1930-08-22_Hospedaria_Bras_book109_p158_Mendoza_ConteVerde_arrivals_context_not_family.pdf (context only; our family is not on it).
